Coop with USAID promotes Kazakhstan’s competitiveness: G. Pirmatov

More than 200 reps of Kazakh Government, donor organizations, local and international organizations and civil society have convened yesterday in
Almaty
to mark 15th anniversary of the USAID’s work in Kazakhstan. Opening a ceremony dedicated to this event, US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Kazakhstan John Ordway noted that the US Agency for International Development is the leading agency of the American Government that has contributed to Kazakhstan’s development for 15 years, Kazinform reports.
Key achievements of Kazakh state reached under the multilateral support of the USAID over the last years were pointed out by speakers. The attendees were demonstrated an exposition of the Agency’s projects realized in the country. The USAID has allotted to Kazakhstan over USD 500 mln for the development of different sectors of economy and social sphere. Since 2006 a number of USAID programs have also been financed by Kazakh Government within Joint Program on Economic Development.
According to Economy and Budget Planning Vice-Minister Galymzhan Pirmatov, the USAID has been cooperating with Kazakh Government, private sector and NGOs for 15 years. “Our country actively cooperates with the American Agency in economy, healthcare and development of democratic institutes. The given cooperation is important for Kazakhstan, for promotion of its competitiveness and achievement of sustainable economic growth as well as for fulfillment of the tasks set by Head of the State on entering the club of 50 most competitive countries”, Vice Minister said.
