Doug Mathis has been put on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation. Luis Mendoza has been called up to take his place. Interesting call up. I didn't realize Mathis was hurting. And I would have thought that Kam Loe would have been more likely to be called up, for a bullpen role, than Mendoza, who has been starting all year.

The Rangers website has an item up on Luis Mendoza and Kason Gabbard. Gabbard is getting called up on Saturday to take over for Doug Mathis in the rotation. Mathis is supposedly heading back to the bullpen, but they are going to have to send someone down to make room for Gabbard, and unless they option Josh Rupe, Mathis would seem to be the most likely candidate.
