Guy Williams Saves the Day as Zorro!

If I were to compile a list of my favorite TV dads, John Robinson of Lost in Space would be high on my list. He was strong, brave, understanding and he did all he could to raise his children right. Manners are important, even if there is a two-headed swamp monster headed for the ship, you don’t interrupt mommy and daddy when they’re talking. When it came to playing John Robinson, the fatherly...

Sheesh! When I was a school kid...

Sheesh! When I was a school kid, I watched the Mickey Mouse Club, and thought that Annette Funicello was attractive and learned the state capitals in school. In choir we sang "God of our fathers, whose almighty hand . . ." This was in Ames, Iowa. We learned about the history of America and how our government works, but we didn't sing praises to either party. A lot seems to have changed.

Happy Birthday, Annette Funicello

Annette Funicello Happy birthday, Annette Funicello. You remind me of the good old days, when a fat, bespectacled Marc Jacobs used to wear Mickey Mouse shirts while chain smoking for the cameras of Fashion Television.

This Day In History...

On this day of Our Lord, 22 October, the following happened: I was born on the day that the British tested a nuclear device in Maralinga, Australia; I was one year old when US forces suffered their first casualty in Vietnam; I was six years old when President Kennedy announced the air and naval blockade of Cuba; I was seven years old (and living in Chicago!) when 225,000 students boycott Chicago schools...

The Garrett, Watts Report (October 6, 2009)

To Our Clients, Colleagues and Friends, You know those pesky bounced check fees? Banks are on a pace to collect almost $40 billion on them for 2009. It’s amazing how much money you can make, $25 at a time, but it’s also amazing how much you can tick off customers, $25 at a time. Okay, everybody, calm [...]
