If you love horror, then you've got to check this out. Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on the first photo from the Eli Roth produced exorcism movie Cotton. We first featured a sales poster for this from Cannes back in May, but haven't heard much since. BD explains that it's "a Cloverfield-inspired exorcism movie" about an evangelical minister who turns against religion and decides to participate...

By Simon Abrams I defy anyone who still thinks the term "torture porn" makes any sense to watch writer/director Pascal Laugier's Martyrs and reconsider their position. This isn't my way of chastising people with different opinions than myself but rather my way of saying: "This film is a good example of what's wrong with the term." Martyrs takes the underlying concept of torture...

MCN's Gurus of Gold, finally up and running, have Up In The Air in the top Best Picture prediction slot, fine, followed by Precious and The Hurt Locker. Wait...they have A Serious Man in tenth place following the unseen Invictus, Nine and The Lovely Bones, and one slot behind Inglourious Basterds? Am I reading this correctly? Jokey-dokey, baseball-bat-and-gloppy-brain-matter Basterds -- a movie costarring...

Overall I was pretty dissappointed by these films, having heard that they were pretty sick gore wise. I felt there were only a few parts that were actually sick, for instance, the ankle scene in Hostel One and the penis chopping off scene at the end of number two. The main reason I was dissappointed was to do with the story, in my opinion Eli Roth could of done alot more with the stories of both films....

Somebody had a put a stake in the heart of the torture porn movement, and who better than Eli Roth to do the honors? The horror trend, currently on life support courtesy of the “Saw” franchise,” hit a massive speed bump with “Hostel: Part II,” an ugly yet slickly packaged production from the former horror wunderkind. Roth, [...] Related posts: WWTW Rewind: ‘What...

Horror is in a strange place right now. In a genre currently steeped in remakes, "Paranormal Activity" has become the first original nail-biter to break through to the masses since "Saw," whose sixth installment showed its (and torture porn in general's) age by coming in second to "Activity" (in its third week) at the box office this weekend. Likewise, the film "Activity"...

There's a martial arts project I've been looking forward to ever since it was first announced - The Man With the Iron Fist. Back in July of last year it was revealed that Eli Roth and RZA would team up to make an old school kung fu movie and RZA would make his directorial debut on it. Not much has been said about it since then, but RZA was interviewed by The A.V. Club and not only gave a good update...

In a new interview with The Onion in which he discusses everything from Dawn of the Dead to sperm cells, the RZA let it be known that a biopic on Ol' Dirty Bastard, the late id of the Wu-Tang Clan, is in early discussion stages. The highlight of Funny People also updated on his hands-on role on The Last Dragon remake and his directorial debut, the kung-fu flick The Man With the Iron Fist, under the...

I am really not a fan of scary movies at all. I can watch exploitation movies until the cows come home, but when it’s straight up scary, I can’t deal with that. The movies of Eli Roth and Rob Zombie have never been a big deal for me, because they’re fun and evil and just [...]

Eli Roth's performance in "Inglourious Basterds" may not have been the best of the bunch, but his character -- Donny Donowitz, aka "The Bear Jew" -- is certainly the most unforgettable. He's the strong, silent type mostly, but with wide swaths of crazy thrown in to keep the Nazis on their toes. Sure, all of [...]

Eli Roth is cleaning out his camera this week, and he's posting delightful photos from the set of Inglourious Basterds on Twitter. Notable is this one, taken on the day his Jewish parents visited and got to meet Hitler and Goebbels. If you’re in the mood for action-packed, pulpy writing, I offer you the following extract from The Iliad by Homer: But the Argives rose in grief to avenge that boast—skilled Peneleos most of all. He charged Acamas—Acamas could not stand the attack, he ran—and Peneleos stabbed at Ilioneus instead, a son of the Herdsman Phorbas rich in flocks, Hermes’ favourite Trojan:...

Consider for a moment how much it would cost to go see Shorts in the theater. The price adds up pretty quickly after buying tickets, popcorn, and a drink. Now, what if for the same amount of money, you could download Shorts and over 100 million other files that you can watch on your computer or burn to DVD. Not really a hard decision is it? As you read this, millions of savvy consumers are already...
