TV News: Miss Marple

Miss Marple was one of the first heroines I posted about on Helen's Heroines, so I was delighted to hear about the new series of whodunits that are currently being filmed. In recent years the part of Miss Marple has been played brilliantly by Geraldine McEwan, but after her recent retirement Julia McKenzie (pictured) will now play the meddlesome sleuth. Geraldine, however, still has Miss Marple films...

Adaptations

Lets talk books. I've just finished Colin Dexter's Last Bus to Woodstock and I was struck just HOW different they are to the TV series. Morse seems like a totally different character and Lewis certainly is. Now this is not unusual many adaptations take the characters and locale and thats it. Frost is nothing like the book. As a rule I totally prefer the books over TV adaptations but Morse works incredibly...

Fresh fields for Miss Marple

Well, it was an obvious headline to sit at the top of a piece about Julia McKenzie replacing Geraldine McEwan as Agatha Christie’s iconic detective, Miss Marple. Note my continued use of the “Miss” in typically bullish fashion. I am...
