I haven't seen the movie, nor do I plan to see the movie. But I think it's an interesting question, especially since so many of you love Batman (as proved by the response to Tyrion's " When Batman was Gay " post)....

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting as mightily bored of Heath Ledger as I am of Nelson Mandela’s never ending 90th Birthday. For weeks now critics and luvvies have been gushing effusively about his performance in the new Batman movie and how it puts Olivier in the shade. The latest example is Sukhdev Sandhu in the Telegraph . “The late Heath Ledger completely steals the show in this compellingly...

The reverse is also true, though—The Joker can’t kill Batman, because, he says, “you’re just too much fun.” That’s what we have to understand first before we can pick up on Ledger’s mannerisms and bizarre intonations. The Joker feels about Batman the way Shakespeare might feel if performances of Hamlet were being blocked in court by Thomas Kyd. In the previous film, Batman has taken the crucial plunge...

Heath Ledger’s performance as Joker—the psychotic villain in the upcoming film Batman: The Dark Knight—may rival even the most demented and terrifying criminals of the big screen. The Joker that he created has been compared to Anthony Hopkins’ interpretation of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and has challenged Jack Nicholson’s legendary performance in the 1989 rendition of Batman. His...
