Yep Pri.me has really hit the big time this week, securing a second hand 1980's celebrity endorsement by Doctor Who and his sidekick Romana. They're actually promoting Prime computers which I think is the system which Grom used to design this blog.
I know, I know, I've been posting a ton of videos, but I just keep finding so much awesome stuff. For example: here are some Prime Computer ads featuring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward in character as the Doctor and Romana. Cheesy, silly stuff, sure, but a great reminder of just how good these two were.
If you ask us, Doctor Who’s a load of shite these days. For one thing, most of the adventures take place on Earth, which is easily the dullest place in the universe, while for another, the role will soon be played by what is essentially a floppy-haired child. Exterminate! Everyone who knows a thing or two [...]
Kasterborous often carries Who news which simply doesn't get covered anywhere else. Here's their latest: News: David's Body Double David Tennant's Doctor Who body double has found himself out of a job since the Tenth Doctor decided to move on - luckily Colum Regan is also a successful singer/songwriter! Colum got the job in 2007 when filming was taking place on the Christmas special Voyage of the Damned,...
Former Doctor Who companion Louise Jameson has described as "rewarding" the short period of time she spent working on the show in the mid 1970s. Speaking to Kent News, Jameson - who is based in Tunbridge and played the svage Leela opposite Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor in 1977-1978 - revealed that Doctor Who related projects have kept her going in fallow periods. “Obsessive is one word...
Kasterborous often carries Who news which simply doesn't get covered anywhere else. Here's their latest: News: The End of Time Synopsis The BBC have released synopses of both episodes of the Doctor Who special, The End of Time - the story that sees the return of the Master and the end of the Tenth Doctor... Earlier than expected, some programme details have been released for the Christmas and New Year...
Jennie reminds us that it's the good Doctor's 46th birthday today. Strictly speaking, though, that's not quite true as we all know that he's over 900 years old. Come to mention it, I'm sure I remember Tom Baker's incarnation saying he was 749 in around 1974 so I've no idea how he's managed to gain over 150 years in less than 30. My husband, who was 12 at the time, remembers watching the first episode...
And not just any part of the world: Los Angeles, the most infamous car-infested, traffic-clogged metropolis on the planet – delicately adjusted through digital editing tools until it is completely devoid of all vehicles (as well as pedestrians). This is not the end of the world, and certainly anything but apocalyptic in its aesthetics. Without cars, [...]
The problem with staying out later than expected on Monday evening was that I didn’t get back in time to catch Enid , the BBC4 drama detailing what a raging cunt Enid Blyton apparently was, or for that matter University Challenge . Ordinarily that wouldn’t be that big a deal with iPlayer making the programmes available to watch for the next seven days or so after transmission, except for...
Good morning. I cannot stay long as deadlines are happening. Cat Mihos, in association with the CBLDF, has made the most beautiful print of Jim Lee's glorious pencil-art to accompany my poem "100 Words". It's lettered by Todd Klein for the print. (Click on it in order to actually see it at readable size.) She decided that the first 24 hours it was on sale at her neverwear.net site, it would...
Actually this is titled the Ultimate Edition. But in any case I finally have a copy of the Black Adder! Wherever you stand on which of the four incarnations is best, funniest etc. there is no doubt that Black Adder is a Crown Jewel in the British Comedy Pantheon. Not only does this contain all four series but also every other Black Adder special. This is a program that was graced with the presence...
Sinbad the Sailor , star of an ancient Middle Eastern cycle of tales made famous in Sir Richard Burton's 1885 The Book of One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, Volume 6, could possibly be considered one of the grandfathers of the Sword and Sorcery genre. Throughout the 1970s, Marvel Comics proved quite skillful at adapting popular (and sometimes not-so-popular) flicks into comicbook form. So in honor...
This past year or two I've been revisiting what you might call my cultural roots. Because I was distracted almost daily by treatment for a wounded foot and unable to work much, I began re-reading the PG Wodehouse, Edgar Rice Burroughs and Sexton Blake stories I enjoyed as a kid. From these I went on to movie and TV favourites, some of which proved to be pretty dreadful. Among them were Hopalong Cassidy...
