Since you suggested I do so a few weeks back , I watched "Once More with Feeling"--that Buffy episode that cemented Joss Whedon's reputation for whipping up all these musical stuff. And, well, it was fun. Fun, and very meticulous. So I wondered, since Joss himself wrote those songs, that it's possible some of the songs on that episode will appear on the future Glee episode he will helm....

Hulu has an interesting new video up going in a direction that I've never seen before. They've taken the first issue of Joss Whedon's X-Men comic series "Gifted" and turned it into what they're calling a "motion comic." That means...

A new installation challenges our preconceptions concerning heroism, not least because of its location on the walls of The Guards Chapel, spiritual home of the Household Division of the British Army With British servicemen losing their lives daily in Afghanistan and yesterday's Remembrance Day celebrations, the word 'hero' has been prominent in press and public debate of late. But what does it mean...

Media Rupert Murdoch and News International always looked untouchable, no way that bird could be shot down. Then I read this. Murdoch wants to block Google from News International websites : "Rupert Murdoch says he will remove stories from Google's search index as a way to encourage people to pay for content online. In an interview with Sky News Australia, the mogul said that newspapers in his...

Best Drama Series To say I don't watch too many dramas is an understatement. Maybe this is in part due to the fact that networks rarely stray far away from doctors, lawyers and cops (notice only one of the 8 shows I am about to mention fall into one of those categories), so while everyone this decade was entranced by a mob family (which I hear I really should give it a chance), a plane crash (which...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Greetings Gleeks and members of the Whedonverse! We're betting that since the news broke that Joss Whedon would be heading over to McKinley High School to direct an episode of "Glee," you haven't been able to contain your sci-fi/musical excitement. Apparently, neither has the man himself. "I talked to him a bunch [...]

In the wake of his Star Trek hit, director-producer J.J. Abrams has a ton of TV and film fodder in the pipeline, including a new prime-time spy drama. If he can find time between 11 other projects, Abrams plans to direct the pilot episode of NBC’s upcoming Undercovers. Abrams earlier directed the legendarily expense Lost pilot [...]

Superheroes with toy franchise tie-ins get a lot of heat... unless critics had a real lively sense of humor they trashed both TRANSFORMERS (as well as WOLVERINE, TERMINATOR SALVATION, etc.) but GI JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA does everything right. AND it gets a lot less things wrong. One can only hope the Michael Bays, Brett Ratners and McGs pay attention when watching JOE (though its director, Stephen...

The popular graphic novel Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday just launched on Hulu as a motion comic created by legendary comics artist Neal Adams. And what's the heck's a motion comic? It's a video based on the artwork from the comic books, using all the original words and drawings, and Marvel is hoping the new form will change the way we read comics. "At this point in the history...

Grant Morrison ruined the X-Men when he wrote New X-Men. No, really, it’s true. Look at Marvel’s moves after he left the book. The very first thing they did was launch X-Men: Reload, a branding and soft-relaunch initiative that saw Chris Claremont put on Uncanny X-Men, Chuck Austen placed on the last two issues of New [...]

The maverick TV guru has put in a semi-serious bid to take on the franchise for $10,000. Plus, Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass is getting raves - but are they to be believed? If there's one thing you can say about Joss Whedon , creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Serenity, it's that he's prepared to give pretty much anything a go. This is, after all, the man who took on the challenge of bringing...

Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt’s Angel spent its first year establishing a workable premise, ensemble, and, most importantly, tone. Newly spun off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the WB network’s zeitgeist-capturing (or, in Buffy-speak, “zeitgeisty”) teen horror-comedy drama

Battlestar Galactica TV Show is the Best Show on Television? Yes, according to Time Magazine, The National Review, Rolling Stone and New York Newsday. Ronald D. Moore, the producer of Carnivale and writer for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, boldly re-imagined the original 1978 space opera of humans versus the robotic Cylons.
