... Or to tell a good story. Maybe. You also talk at length about your troubled relationship with Leonard Nimoy and the rest of the Star Trek cast. How would you characterize that dynamic? Well, I’m not sure what the rest of the cast were fussing about, and I didn't know about it until long after the show. But as for Leonard and I, I probably was a little too full of myself and...

There's an old sketch film called Amazon Women on the Moon and one of the bits is a parody of the old Leonard Nimoy show, "In Search Of..." called, "Bullshit or Not?" with the tagline "Bullshit or not? You decide." It's a line I like so much that I've stolen it for an irregular series of posts. Today's quotation comes from the roman orator Seneca, specifically number 90 of his letters:...

Shatner was specifically asked if he deliberately ‘tanked a scene’ where Sulu was promoted in Star Trek II (as contended by George Takei), therefore denying Takei’s character the promotion (until Star Trek VI). Shatner replied “that's absurd.” On Nichelle Nichols, Shatner denied he slept with her, but noted “she had enough activity on her own.” Regarding Leonard, Nimoy Shatner admitted...

William Shatner has admitted in his new autobiography that he could not stand sleeping with obsessed Star Trek fans because they would want to act out their weird sci-fi fantasies in bed. Yeah, we all figured them for “beam me up”, but did any of the ladies scream “Tiberius!”? Shatner also claims that co-star Leonard Nimoy had no sense of humor on the set of the original series.

... exactly the same movie wearing whatever we want and without risking the possibility of pissing off Leonard Nimoy by asking him to sing "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" after having a little too much to drink. You have to ask yourself: Which one of us was really the "winner" in this circumstance after all...? [eBay]

So it turns out the new Trek movie has more ties to the other movies' continuity than we thought. The movie starts out after 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis, the last movie featuring Picard and crew. (I guess it's somehow made clear this is taking place later than that.) And the first character we meet in the film is Leonard Nimoy's Ambassador Spock, who's somehow back from Romulan space. And...

More than a prequel'Well that can have many meanings, but the simplest answer is that some of the film is actually not a prequel, but a sequel. [minor spoilers] TrekMovie.com has confirmed that the film starts in the post Star Trek Nemesis timeframe. This is where we initially find the elder Spock (played by Leonard Nimoy). So in a sense the film takes us from the end of the TNG era and...

When naming celebrities who’ve released records, you might think of Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton. If you're geeky, you might recall William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. If you're really geeky, you might remember the Michael Parks country and blues albums. Buy any of these and you'll be the butt of a lot of jokes. Scarlett Johansson singing on Anywhere I Lay My Head , however isn't laughable....
