Lionsgate's new Ghost House Underground label has acquired Gregg Bishop's popular SXSW 2008 midnight movie, Dance of the Dead, according to Gregg Kilday at The Hollywood Reporter. Bishop's geek horror flick was easily one of the most beloved films in the SXSW midnight slate, and wowed audiences with its dose of John Hughes awkwardness and Sam Raimi bloodlust. Ghost House...

And speaking, as we were yesterday, of Ayn Rand-ian auteur Frank Miller 's forthcoming (2009) maked superhero flick The Spirit , here's another reason we're not looking forward to it: Spiderman director Sam Raimi already made it (in 1990) as Darkman . Actually, for my money, Darkman is everything all the Batman films to date (save possibly the first) should have been but weren't, i.e., visually...

Indeed, Franco Zeffirelli...

In animation, this Spider-Man series was pretty notable in its epic season long stories with multiple guest heroes. Not as good as the Batman series of the same era, but still fun. The fact that Spider-Man was not allowed to punch becomes pretty distracting...
