At least according to the main TV offerings. Last night it was a choice of becoming the next Nancy or Oliver for Andrew Lloyd Webber, or the next pop sensation for Simon Cowell. Everybody wants to be a star now. Who wants to star as an engineer, a plumber, or a teacher ? There are few drama productions now, because reality TV shows are cheaper to produce - after all the contestants come for free !...

A new feature for you all! Seeing as though the BBC so generously post every single Nancy and Oliver performance on their YouTube Channel , I thought I'd start to head up my reviews with what I believe to be the performance of the week. Juno bulldozed its way to a Best Original Screenplay Oscar, but in any other year, the honor may have well gone to nominee Nancy Oliver for this tender, subtle story about a lonely young man (a masterfully restrained Ryan Gosling) and his romantic relationship with a sex doll. David Edelstein couldn’t get past the basic premise, but called it “howlingly funny.” We bought it hook, line, and sinker...

For those of you who don't know Shani Wallis was the actress who played Nancy in the 1968 film of "Oliver", and "I'd Do Anything" is the BBC's new show where they are searching for actors and actress's to play Nancy and Oliver in the new stage production by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I was surprised to read on the Daily Mail's web site (post title is a link to more detailed article) that though she asked...

Unusually, women writers have taken three of the five nominations in this category: Nancy Oliver (Lars and the Real Girl), Tamara Jenkins (The Savages) and Diablo Cody (Juno). They are joined by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton) and Brad Bird (Ratatouille).

COULD I be Nancy? It was something that I hardly dared to imagine, but when the BBC announced it was holding open auditions in Manchester to cast the parts of Nancy and Oliver in the latest West End musical revival of Oliver! I decided to find out.
