AS PARIS fashion week closed yesterday amid continuing economic volatility, what came through in the spring 2009 collections was a sense of soft power expressed convincingly through the use of sheer and light-reflecting fabrics with strong graphic geometry.
John Galliano referenced his British heritage by showing giant bearskin guardsmen-style hats made of black feathers, teamed with red short suits, as Paris Fashion Week drew to a close.
