An old friend and I dropped into the Doc Marten store in London today for a spot of window shopping, and not for the first time, I was really impressed with how much the range has grown. The label has stayed true to its alternative roots, but with some really clever tweaking.

Today we learned Ms. Lowe was retained by Doc Martens for their Fall '08 ad campaign - Something that should excite two groups of people more than the rest: 1. The group that loves seeing Daisy in her underpants and not much more. 2. The group that loves seeing Doc Martens in fashion magazines because it means...

What are more clownish, less stompin', more orthopaedic, less trendy, much uglier but WAY MORE COOL than Doc Martens? Ummm, my Clarks boots! A couple months ago, I was digging through the bag and found these boots...

With grunge rock's heyday nearly two decades gone, Seattle's Mudhoney has seen most of its original fan base go from peroxide-blond to gray -- trading eight-eyelet Doc Martens for deck shoes. We're all familiar with creepy Orville Redenbacher being resurrected to shill again for his popcorn , and Kurt Cobain selling Doc Martens from heaven . Here's another cheap stoop at a dead legend on the part of Hershey's. Saw this item in the checkout lane tonight at the grocery store and had to snap it up, seeing as it is a "collector edition" chocolate bar. (DOH! I cheapened my investment by opening...

Now, I haven't felt the need to wear Doc Marten boots since my schooldays in the '90s, and while I don't have any desire to re-visit the steelie-toed 'police' boots I used to wear, I do miss the quality and sturdiness you can always guarantee when you by a pair of DMs.
