apples on the tree

I planted a nice little Fugi apple tree in my back yard about 3 or 4 years ago. It gets too much shade and I didn't think it was blooming at all. But today I noticed four small apples! I'd like these to ripen without bug or squirrel damage. Do they need a spray or net here in the NE US? Please leave me your advice! reBlogged to fruit...

Except the surface won't be the main talking point of the grand prix weekend. The main topic will probably be the 90% chance of rain on Saturday...

Venus moving across the sun.

Why? Because I can. (And sometimes on a Friday, you blog one in.) This was taken using a Celestron NexStar 130GT and Fugi FinePix F601Zoom Digital Camera at f/5, by holding camera lens over a 25mm eyepiece with orange filter attached, and using a 2x Barlow. (Now, I myself prefer f/8 with the 130GT, but, when you're shooting the sun, you need to live on the edge and push things a little.) ( via .)
