Twangy spitfire Neko Case's Middle Cyclone was selected by Amazon.com's editors as the best of 2009, while U2's No Line On The Horizon was the online retailer's best-selling album this year. That's according to a just-released year-end package that jumps the "happy new year" gun by quite a few days. Sure, boosting these albums now will probably be great for the holiday sales, but it's too...
I still enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars. I thought everyone did really well Monday night. And of course, just like everyone, I don’t agree with the way the judges score the dances. It seems like the celebrity dancers who seem to be more acclimated to dancing are judged more harshly like and the celebrity dancers [...]
I got to see Diana Krall in concert last Thursday in London at the Royal Albert Hall. It was an impressive venue. I was very pleased to see that the guitarist, Anthony Wilson was touring with her. Diana was on good form, playing excellently and with such a smooth voice. The balance between piano and guitar was just right. Anthony Wilson was as amazing as ever. If you like jazz, this is a great tour...
More often than not, you just have to break away from the world's madness and envelope one's self in good tunes. Diana Krall envelopes me like few others...musically speaking, of course. Enjoy!
Everyone's telling me how good Arsenal's kids are. Well, we beat them last week, 7-6. OK, it was at under-nine level, which is eight-a-side, but it still meant a lot to my lad William, who was making his Crystal Palace debut.
Well the evening was as good if not better than I expected. Diana Krall was her usual fabulous self, in my opinion she is one of the best pianist/vocalist around at the moment. The support act was the saxaphonist Yolanda Brown who I had never heard of but she was very good indeed. Very similar to Candy Dulfer. A lovely evening thoroughly enjoyed. Andy
Went to see Diana Krall this week on her first night at the Royal Albert Hall. This is the 2nd time I have seen her live and this time she was much more relaxed and out to have fun which she did. She had more patter and was very funny and obviously a woman totally in love and enjoying her children. As for the music I will leave it to www.londonjazz.blogspot.com and their much more musically savvy review...
Diana Krall was clearly in a mood to enjoy the first of her three evenings back in London, in what seemed like a near-capacity Royal Albert Hall. For such a huge venue, the atmosphere was surprisingly warm. Krall was, understandably, agreeably taken aback by the whoops of delight from the audience in response to completely inocuous lines such as "I'm from Canada" or "Andy Pandy says...
WENN Singer/songwriter Elvis Costello was spotted out strolling with his 2 ½-year-old twin sons Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James last Friday in London. With musicians for parents, Diana Krall says the boys have their own thoughts on mom and dad’s tunes! “They have strong opinions on what songs they like, that’s for sure. If they [...]
Wish I hadn't listened to Diana Krall; what happened, she used to be a fabulous singer!?! I'm blaming The Imposter.Loved Jeffrey Daniel and his Obama T-shirt.Impressed with the Unthanks; good job, as I'm going to see them in York tomorrow. The Wildebeests - don't even reach the status of 'landfill indie'; can I suggest a new category, 'fly-tipped indie'?
There's been a lot of chat on the jazz internet about the music "dying" and a lack of interest from young people. That may be true in some areas but, over the past few years, a number of fine young musicians under the age of 35 have created some impressive music. Performers/composers such as saxophonists Sam Sadigursky and Noah Preminger, guitarist Julian Lage, composer Nicholas Urie, and...
soooooo… nothing too special as I did not have the time or probably the intension of an in depth test of the panasonic gf1, but as I have it now for about 2 weeks in action, I used it here and there, first with the 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S that came with the kit and [...]
