We get few books about the living jazz artists. Fortunately, Pat Metheny, a hometown hero who has found a market for his music around the world, has inspired a good new book.

His chordal language is amongst the more advanced for a guitarist, touching on ideas from George Van Eps and Ben Monder. ..... one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation...

Rumor has it the album will be re-released in 2010. I hope it contains the extended versions, which are sublime....

As a distantly Bill Frisell-like player who has kept company with class acts like pianists Paul Bley, Uri Caine and Matthew Shipp, as well as Polish trumpet star Tomasz Stanko, Irish guitarist Mark O'Leary is entitled to a bigger reputation.
