... metal grade. And that's fine. Everyone's entitled to an opinion — and Hungarian guitarist Zoltan Bathory, one of the band's founding members, has a couple of his own. "We had a song ['The Bleeding'] that somehow touched so many people, and became really successful on the radio, but it's like a hate song, and it is pretty heavy," Bathory said of the single — which is hovering in the...

Full disclosure: I was barely alive when Nifelheim's main influences began taking the lord's name in vain. But a first pass through Envoy of Lucifer, the Swedish metal quintet's fourth album and first in seven years, arouses the same primeval (prim-evil') buzz that kids in the '80s must have felt when they first wrapped their ears around Venom, Slayer, Bathory, and Sodom. In other words, this...

There's not a lot of Hack/Slash scans here...this must be fixed. The current arc, Tub Club, has Cassie and Vlad infiltrating an all-girls college, due to an empty human skin found nearby, which they track to the Tub Club - rumoured to be a coven of lesbian Elizabeth Bathory wannabes. This post contains no hot lesbian action. Instead, just a couple images of Cassie and Vlad's delightful interaction....

In the first instance a film about a haunted video game doesn't seem too vamp, more like it has taken the premise of haunted technology ala J-movies and substituted video for video games. Yes, this film owes a lot to Ring. However, once I heard that the central character was Elizabeth Bathory (Maria Kalinina, though much of the time she is a computer generated version), I had to look into it....

... spiritually neutered, 'humanist' with little outlook beyond the world of materialism. Then the Bathory song ' One Rode to Asa Bay ' came onto my media player as it went through its shuffle cycle, and I began to feel a kind of schadenfreude at the fate of Christianity in Europe. It came here via the sword and hence eventually, according to Christianity's own tenets, it would inevitably (and...
