- Static-X's newest album is "Cult of Static" and contains thirteen tracks suited for the hardcore metal/hard rock fan. There are many exciting melodies and intricate guitar work on display throughout this album. If you are familiar with the metal genre and enjoy it, this will be a great album to catch. If you are not a big metal/screamer fan, you may want to check out tracks like "Grind...
Megadeth is coming to town soon. I spoke with bassist James LoMenzo last week for the November issue of MELT Magazine (new issue coming REAL soon). While that feature focuses solely on Megadeth, I couldn’t resist the temptation to talk to James about White Lion, the band he played with from the mid-80s through the [...]
I was on my way to work last week, as I do everyday of every week. Howard (as in Stern) went on a commercial break so I flipped the channel. I decided to go to the metal station. Out of my speakers came a gloriously, head crushingly, face meltingly and ultimately huge sound. I looked up to my radio and saw the name Iron Age. IRON AGE!! Holy shit , you are blowing my mind! The song was called Dispossessed....
Building on the success of their 2007 comeback album “United Abominations,” Megadeth has released their second anti-New World Order offering “Endgame.” Megadeth is probably the only big name band railing against our loss of rights, liberties, and national sovereignty.
This is the start of my ABC Music Humpday, inspired by a friend of C, the very cool, articulate and intelligent J of the the blog Thinking About . For 26 weeks, she posted a different song/video based on the letters of the alphabet and called it ABC Music Mondays. In her case the letters of the alphabet corresponded to the band or singer's names not the songs. Check out her archive here . Since I'm...
In 1989, I was lucky enough to discover Soundgarden two years before the grunge revolution. I read a rave about Louder Than Love in what was at that time my musical bible: Circus magazine. After a steady stream of Anthrax, Metallica, and Megadeth, I was floored at how heavy a band could be by playing so slow. Two years later, I was somewhat disappointed by Badmotorfinger, partly because the sound wasn't...
One of late 2009's most highly anticipated tours has been put on hold, as Slayer, one of the archetypal thrash metal/death metal bands of all time, has had to cancel dates. Tom Aroya, the band's singer and bass player, has undergone back surgery, forcing Slayer to postpone touring plans in support of their new album World Painted Blood , which came out yesterday. According to Slayer's MySpace page...
Google Friend Connect, the popular service from Google allowing website owners to add social functions without coding to their websites, is expanding their service today to allow for a much deeper social experience. Friend Connect is already a massive service, in use on some nine million websites. According to statistics sent to us by Google, there [...]
Based on most of the reader comments to previous Band Hero stories, I already have a good idea of what you guys think of this game. You don't know why it exists or how it's different than Guitar Hero 5 , and all of this top-40 popular music is crap. You don't understand why the songs couldn't have just been released as downloadable content for Guitar Hero 5 ; even if they were, you wouldn't buy them...
As it stands right now, Slayer remains as straight in their game as ever before, despite showing its frays a tad, neither improving beyond the scope of the creature born decades ago nor killing it off.
Slayer’s Myspace : It is with great regret that Slayer announces the postponement of its “Canadian Carnage” tour with Megadeth, which was due to begin on November 8. In addition, the band announces the postponement of its appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” which had been set for this Wednesday, November 4. More information will be released shortly regarding the rescheduling...
Frontiers Records announces the return of Giant for the release of a brand new album in early 2010. Giant is a band formed by Pop and Rock scene, guitarist/vocalist Dann Huff and his drummer brother David, with experienced keyboards player...
The heavy-metal concert scheduled for the Air Canada Centre on Nov. 13 – featuring Slayer, Megadeth, Machine Head and Suicide Silence – has been postponed indefinitely. Slayer cited a back injury suffered by vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, who is to undergo surgery in Texas on Tuesday. A new date for the concert is promised shortly.
The past few years have been good to thrash metal. Metallica and Megadeth released great (if slightly flawed) return-to-form long players, Testament put out their first in nearly ten years (and it’s up to snuff, even!), and while it’s not looking too promising at present, Anthrax is scheduled to release an album sometime this year [...]
