I set the table full of food And here they come, my hungry brood, All flocking down with eager haste, And not a morsel goes to waste. A blue tit, swift on dancing wing Is first to find the peanut string, And then a robin, bold and bright Is quick to feed . . . and quick to fight! More mannerly, a song thrust calls To glean the fruit and fat that falls While finches swoop with joyful speed At any sight...

I know I often rightly get pulled up for being a pessimistic bugger, but surely this impressive run of results (and indeed, for the most part, performances to go with them) has to come to an end sooner or later. Ashton Town 1 Wigan Robin Park 2 Vodkat Challenge Cup Ashton Town - what's not to like about the place. Cracking little clubhouse, sloping pitch, tremendous pies and we tend to win there. Saturday was a right old struggle though. Well on the pitch it was. Off the pitch the beer and the pies went down well, the sun shone, they kindly left the side gate open so you could nip out for a slash on the path...

Thursday October 29,2009 By John Ingham THE friendly, unassuming robin has a secret identity – as a super-hero. TV’s Batman may have got all the kudos for being more intelligent than mere mortals, but it seems robins have incredible super-powers. It was nice to walk to work in the sunshine today, and what a cracking morning it was, it's nearly November, yet today was better than some of the days we had back in July! I noticed more WOOD PIGEONS going south as I crossed Migrant Alley at 07:00hrs, quite decent sized flocks went overhead every few minutes, flocks were also seen to the west and east, I wonder how wider front they were going through...

Wigan Robin Park 1 AFC Liverpool 2 Vodkat North West Counties League Div One Admission: £4 programme: £1.50p (28 pages) Attendance: 113 (head count - about 80 0f those from the visitors) This was a ‘new’ ground for me and I wasn't impressed. There is a ten lane athletics track, plus another lane for long jump between the one main stand and the pitch. So no atmosphere whatsoever....
