Remember when album covers told you everything you needed to know about a band? So it was that an impressionable young lad cruised into his local record store and was immediately transfixed by the cover of Bram Tchaikovsky's debut album, Strange Man, Changed Man. It was as if I knew that once I got the album home, I'd fall head over the hills for the music found within the grooves of the spinning vinyl....

As always, a coveted...

A friend of mine, listening to an embryonic version of this mix — a sort of imaginary soundtrack to The Originals, the graphic novel by Dave Gibbons — described it as being “Ready Steady Go! in Hell.” And I thought; Yeah, I can work with that. The Who – Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere from Thirty Years Of [...]

Last night I stumbled on to the Cloudberry Records site and fell into about a four hour dark hole of great music. They release EP's and singles only, press only 100 of each CD, and they release singles on a regular schedule each month. Right now, there's over 60 EP's that you can listen to and download...

I thought I'd round out this Halloween week with some ear candy, Five power pop treats that won't require a trip to the dentist afterwards. First up, what may in fact be the quintessential power pop masterpiece, Starry Eyes by The Records . Followed up in quick succession by Bram Tchiakovsky's sing along ode to a blow-up doll, Aussie wonders The Someloves , some love from the girls with Holly Beth...
