Roberto Clemente High School sits on the corner of Western Avenue and Division Street. To the west on Division is the gentrifying neighborhood of West Town and a stretch of upscale eateries. To the east is Humboldt Park, a neighborhood of clearly defined gang territories. Monday, the Chicago Transit Authority made major service cuts. The cuts [...]

The Chicago Transit Authority's "Doomsday" schedule was implemented yesterday, but today is supposedly the day where riders will feel the cuts in service . I'm of the opinion CTA wasn't doing a bang-up job maintaining its bus routes and schedules when they had a full service schedule — a friend Saturday called CTA the "Chicago Tardiness Authority" — but I have to...

One of My all time personal favorites in My collection of bus photos I had taken, was this one at the CTA Route # 52 Kedzie / California Avenue south terminal loop. Seen here in it's last year of operation, is a mid 1960's era Chicago Transit Authority Flxible 40 foot transit bus. The remaning 1960's vintage Flxible transit buses, would be retired from the CTA roster in 1986.

I photographed this digital live sound video after work one evening, back in April of 2009. This 40 foot Chicago Transit Authority 2006 New Flyer transit bus, is viewed heading southbound on Dodge Avenue near Oakton Street in north suburban Evanston Illinois. The bus is viewed passing underneath the CTA Skokie Swift rapid transit line.

I took this photo inside of the Illinois Railway Museum's bus barns. This 1951 vintage General Motors TDH Series "Old Look" 40 foot transit bus, had originall worked for one of the Chicago Transit Authority's predecessor companys known as The Chicago Motor Coach Company. The Chicago Transit Authority was formed in the year of 1945, and actually began operations in 1947 with the purchase of...

Artist Joe Baldwin and the Chicago Transit Authority have come together to imagine a new way to promote Chicago's green spaces. With the Mobile Garden concept, flat cars will be added to Chicago Transit Authority trains that will play host to native species of plants which require little maintenance. [via Treehugger]

Image via Mobile Garden The Mobile Garden concept dreamed up by artist Joe Baldwin just got the thumbs up from the Chicago Transit Authority. The plan is to add some green space to the transit system by transforming a rail car into a mobile garden boasting greenery and native species. The car will help commuters "visualize the possibilities for enhancing green space in the city," as Hugh...

Midlake Courage of Others [Bella Union; 2010] by Jason P. Woodbury Rating: When Midlake released The Trials of Van Occupanther in 2006, the fact that their album was so AOR-indebted was hardly noteworthy. Plenty of indie acts were mining similar ground — tell me Sufjan’s “Chicago” doesn’t sound a little like Chicago or that The Flaming Lips' At War With the Mystics wasn’t...

Has anyone heard the new Bill Champlin album "No Place Left To Fall? His solo music is fantastic! I got turned onto his music when I went to see Chicago recently (he just left the band after 28 years to pursue his solo career). Guess he’s been around a while as I found out that he co-wrote (and won a Grammies for…) “After the Love is Gone” by Earth, Wind & Fire and “Turn Your Love Around” by George
