ITV has announced that on 14th Feb 2010 it plans to broadcast a one hour “interview” with Gordon Brown. Not a hard hitting political examination of the Prime Minister - his policies and actions over the last four years. Not a series of interviews where Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Nick Clegg (and possibly others) are [...]
“And I looked, and beheld a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” But it’s not all [...]

Here's what I played at The Vauxhall Griffin's Sunday Supplement on Sunday 24th January. Quite a lot of Dusty Springfield crept in, and I even played a couple of tracks each from Cerys Matthews, Demis Roussos and Anita Harris. Really enjoyed myself though. The Ballad Of Jet Harris – Apple Boutique 1234 – We Swim You Jump Please Don't Touch – Polly Scattergood I Say a Little Prayer...
I'm definitely bringing my husband next week! There's this little man taken to jumping in one of the pews behind me to keep an eye on my antics!( Of which from me there are none since us cradle Catholics know how to behave! Shame they don't!) Since I've probably been a practicing Catholic for far more years than him, though he's as old as my mother, it's kind of strange how he's attached himself to...
I just got back from the NPG where there is an exhibition of 60s pop and rock photographs ' From the Beatles to Bowie'. Anyone else been? I left with a vague feeling of disappointment. I felt there were too many photos of the Stones and the Beatles plus Cilla Black, Lulu, Dusty and Sandie Shaw. Very few of 'beat groups' from the early sixties, none of the Blues or Folk and almost nothing on psychedelia....
CILLA has been rocking the leather trousers/shoulderpads look for a good couple of decades and finally the fashion gods took notice and decreed they were back with a vengeance.
Forgive me if it seems I’m losing my marbles, but off the back of this not unfavourable review from Mr. Charnock, I’ve watched the last two episodes of Take Me Out and, despite everything I’ve been brought up to believe and hold sacred, I think I might quite like it. A little bit. Before you unsubscribe from [...]
Yesterday Simon and I ended up with an entire day in London, as grown-ups. We spent a bit of it together, but for the parts where I was solo, I made the most. Our first stop together was to Foyles . We started with a very civilised cup of coffee in Ray's Jazz Cafe (great service and comfie couches, too, I'm thrilled to report). I didn't have time to browse the books in Foyles but I did get one of these...
At first glance, it was one of the most confusing images of the week. What could possibly bring together, so sumptuously, a handful of posh, cuddly Corbett and Cilla and the likes of Frankie Dettori and Nigel Havers? Was there going to be some awful remake of To the Manor Born, or one of those charity murder-mysteries where they all play Poirot, for the sick kiddies? Was it the new, fast-track UK...
