OK, since I'm still excited about hearing Nuno on the radio the other night, and since Motley Crue's new record came out this week, I'm declaring today HAIR METAL DAY on this blog. To participate, all you have to do...
OK, let me just have a little fan moment here. When I was a senior in high school, Extreme was my absolute favorite band. Nuno Bettencourt is one of the best rock guitarists ever, and Gary Cherone is a master...
Take our ink-stained hands and join us at the OldStand, where Jon McMillan goes to remind everyone what an honest-to-goodness music magazine is supposed to look like. We've suffered through some half-assed list issues here at the OldStand, but RS 602 ("New Faces '91") has a compelling mixture of the thoughtful, the prescient, and the ridiculous. On the plus side: David Fricke's trip inside the acid-fried...
All-star cover band Camp Freddy were joined on-stage by members of the Sex Pistols, Motorhead, Jane's Addiction and Alice In Chains for their show at the Roxy in Los Angeles last night (May 1) that kicked off their month-long residency at the legendary Sunset Strip club.
A cast of rock heavyweights crammed the Roxy stage in Hollywood Thursday night (May 1) for a jam session that found the likes of Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath and Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses) on stage with the likes of Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols and Alice In Chains' Jerry Cantrell.
Looks like Who cover bands aren't the only thing Gary Cherone has going on after all. Extreme is putting the finishing touches on a new album, with Nuno Bettencourt at the mixing board possibly even as I type! It will be the band's first album since 1995's Waiting For The Punchline , so I'm hoping they'll name the album The Punchline if they don't decide to go back to the whole roman numeral thing...
another photo that could probably use a good caption.... Lead Singer Perry Farrell (R) and guitarist Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction perform at the 2008 NME Awards USA at El Rey theatre in Los Angeles April 23, 2008. The original...
When Idolator last posted the word "Cherone," there were rumors that singer Gary and Extreme compatriot Nuno Bettencourt were writing together. Six months on and Nuno's doing indie movie soundtracks while Gary... well, Gary's playing shows in Massachusetts with the band Slip Kid, which "is not just another WHO tribute/cover band, nor does it try to impersonate them. Rather It is a truly inspired celebration...
In August 2006 Dave Navarro told Jimmy Kimmel on national TV , ”Here’s the thing about Jane’s Addiction: As much as I love it and it was a huge part of my life, we have reunited three times in our career. When enough’s enough, you kind of pack it up.” Apparently the guitarist spoke too [...]
From Rippin Kitten - Yes, ’tis true. A music video by Criss Angel, the magician. It’s kind of formulaic for a “metal” music video. Rock stars: check. (Introduction on the bullhorn by none other than Mr. Vince Neill, Sully from Godsmack and Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme in case you were wondering.) Cool motorcycles: check. A hip-looking crowd with some hot babes that have [...]
A couple of years back, we hid our face from the news that Extreme were getting back together . We've heard very little since, but apparently they're still huffing about, with a new record being lined up . Apparently it's going to be different, says Nuno Bettencourt: Even though we wanted to do something for years, we had to have something new to offer," he told BostonHerald.com. "In the last six months...
