Isn't that the most wonderful thing about singing, though, how it elevates stuff that on the page looks pretty weak tea? Read a lot of lyrics and you come away thinking, "wow, whatever happened to that ol' time songwriting?" a la Lileks, but hear the delivery and it's like a punch in the mouth. For me at least.
