It's the second time Peter Homer has won the so-called "Astronaut Glove Challenge" -- Homer bested the competition in the same contest in 2007. Homer's design won first place in this year's...
Penguin recently released a new short story collection centered around dragons. It's edited Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois. The table of contents follows along with my quick reviews for each story. You may have noticed a slight change to the Biology in Science Fiction blog's appearance. The change isn't merely cosmetic - I finally launched a project I've been fiddling with for quite a while. One of the wonders of the internet is the abundance of quality fiction you can read (or listen to) for absolutely free. I've been collecting free fiction links as I run across them in a list, which has gotten...
I've said it before, but it bears repeating: If someone suggests that simultaneously being in a wedding, riding herd on three kids and photographing said wedding in an official capacity is a good idea... it isn't. Can't say as I recommend that degree of multitasking. It's Wednesday, and I'm still exhausted. The wedding itself was very nice. My brother John and his bride Tami were perfect hosts. More...
I remember seeing this film, written and directed by Michael Crichton, as a child. I remember it as the only movie that scared the daylights out of me and gave me nightmares. So I decided to rent it as an adult and see WHY it scared me so much as I only remembered a few scenes from the film. Tom Selleck plays police sergeant Jack Ramsay, whose job is to stop machines that have circumvented their programming...

The Beam Me Up blog has posted "The Clone Song" , a ditty sung to the tune of Home on the Range, penned by Randall Garrett and Isaac Asimov . As the first verse above suggests, it's all about -er- self love. It actually reminds me a bit...
