In the last round Bayern split points with Schalke in front of their fans, so they await the derby against Leverkusen after a winless month in the league. Leverkusen finally ended the drawing run when they beat Frankfurt 4 :0 at home. Last test for Van Gaal Only five points in the first twelve rounds are reason enough for worries in Bayern that have high ambitions in Bundesliga this season. When you...

It will go down as one of the great upsets of the District 1 football playoffs. Fifteenth seed Unionville's 12-7 win over No. 2 seed Pennsbury last Friday night was not only a shocker because of the outcome but because the Falcons, who had not lost at home in two years, were held to a touchdown.

Phil Brown saved his job with the win over Stoke and he thus led the Tigers out of the bottom three. His side now need a couple of good results in a row but we are yet to see how they will fare in this match. The Hammers couldn’t build on the midweek win over Aston Villa and lost at home to Everton, with the defeat leaving them in the relegation zone. Tigers ready for the relegation derby Even...

Our Austrian correspondent ESW has translated several articles about the plight of ethnic Turkish girls and young women in Austria. She includes this introductory note: The following are three related stories about how more and more Muslim girls are disappearing. We all know that this has nothing to do with Islam and everything with getting a good education. What happens if the girls have received...

I had a decision to make as a child, do I follow my father's divergent confusing fanhood* or do I blaze my own path. I was a stupid child so naturally I decided to blaze my own path. Great fucking choice assshole. Being a Jet absolutely fan sucks and they just might be the worst NFL team to pull for**. The Jets have an uncanny ability to get ones hopes up and then quickly drop the hammer and shatter...

As Alpha noted earlier this week, the troubled, bruised, 1-4 NC State Wolfpack is pretty much the last hurdle between Clemson and its first Atlantic Division title. The very same Wolfpack that lost at home to Duke by 3 touchdowns, then got smoked even worse by Boston College (a team that Clemson manhandled a [...]

by Chris Burke Filed under: 49ers , Chicago Bears , NFL Live Blogging Get. Excited. The NFL 's Thursday night schedule is back and, well maybe not better than ever -- the Week 10 combatants, Chicago and San Francisco, have lost seven of eight combined -- but it's certainly back. Both teams could desperately use this one. The Bears (4-4) find themselves three games back of the NFC North-leading Vikings...

Espanyol ended the good run of results as they lost in Gijon and they face a difficult task in this match having lost the first leg 2:0. Getafe surprisingly lost at home to nine-man La Coruna and they are thus in similar situation as their opponents. Two-goal deficit from the first leg After the somewhat slow start of the league campaign, Espanyol rediscovered their form and entered the seven-match...

The Pitt Panthers have their highest ranking in 20 years. Pitt is ranked #8 in the AP poll and #9 in the coaches poll. The computers don't have the same love, ranking Pitt #12. There was a lot of Penn State bashing by Pitt fans Saturday night, and rightfully so, but lets see how the season plays out. When the final rankings come out, will Pitt still be ranked higher? I doubt it. As a Penn State fan,...

My oh my what one win can do for my confidence in the Buckeyes. Penn State is not an especially good team this year (they've lost by double digits to the two good teams they've played this year) but winning in front of a hostile crowd on the road, and doing so in a game in which the Buckeyes took care of the football, controlled field position and never allowed Penn State to actually get in the end...

Readers may remember that toward the end of the 2008 NFL season, I decided that watching the Buffalo Bills consistently lose games and look boring in doing so had lost its appeal to a sufficient degree that I decided to just plain stop watching them . Sunday afternoons became a lot more pleasant once I realized that devoting three hours each week to an activity that wasn't bringing me much pleasure...

The Michigan women's soccer team, who had not lost at home since its season opener against Arkansas on Aug. 21, entered its final game of the 2009 campaign hoping to send its seniors off with a major upset. But the Wolverines were outshot and outmatched against No. 22 Penn State.

Novak Djokovic ended Roger Federer's title run in Basel with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 upset victory Sunday in the Swiss Indoors final. The Serb second seed won a marathon 24-minute tenth game of the opening set and then began the decider with two breaks to stun the winner of the last three editions in his hometown. It was Djokovic's fifth win in 14 career matches with Federer who lost at home for the first...

On a horrible day of college football, when my Oregon Ducks were upset by a bunch of slow but gigantic white guys at Stanford, at least I was able to go to bed knowing Notre Dame lost at home to Navy. Notre Dame losing always makes one feel better I find.
