Mr. Tangerine was surfing the TV listings. The ABC Family channel is following Pat Robertson's 700 Club with syndicated reruns of That '70s Show. Yes, that's right: A Christian talk show (which I had no idea was still on the air) is in the same programming block as a sitcom featuring a lot of weed and beer, teenage sex talk, and neighbors' nudist parties.

TV preacher Pat Robertson is mad at Americans United again. On Tuesday’s “700 Club,” Robertson groused that Americans United (along with People For the American Way and Media Matters) watch his show every day and alert the media when he says extreme things. “They have people assigned to monitor every word, and then to take those words, [...]

On the July 15 edition of The 700 Club , co-host Pat Robertson falsely claimed that Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) "was caught running a group of male prostitutes out of his D.C. residence." Robertson said to his guest, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC): "I remember, Barney Frank, who's now the head of an important committee in the United States House of Representatives, was caught running a group of male prostitutes...

I first became familiar with the term “critical mass” in the early 1980s as producer of The 700 Club. Most people don't realize the extent to which the program and its founder, Pat Robertson, were driven by research. Little was left to chance back in my days there, which is (...)

Heard of it? Not long ago a lady told me that her church (in our town) was doing this, and she had seen people "healed". Yesterday, flipping channels, I found the 700 Club welcoming a guest who was one of these "soaking prayer" people... you go to their website and they send you a "kit", to teach...

Ben Kinchlow was a long-time co-host of the “700 Club,” but he struck out on his own a number of years ago. On Friday, he returned to talk with Pat Robertson about his new self-published book, “Black Yellowdogs.” According to Kinchlow, the media and mainstream civil rights leaders are duping black voters into voting for Democrats, and thus into “partaking” in the party’s supposed “evil deeds” on issues...

I’ve been working as a communications assistant at Americans United for Separation of Church and State for just about a week now, and already I have learned a lot. TV preacher Pat Robertson, for example, informed me (along with all the viewers of his “700 Club”) that he is not a gynecologist, and Religious Right [...]

Hard-hitting journalism is nearing extinction on television, and the FCC just threw another shovel-full of dirt on its grave when it recently ruled that Rupert Murdoch's TMZ and Pat Robertson's 700 Club meet the test for "a bona fide newscast."
