Beta tests. It seems like no sooner do you turn around these days than you trip over a beta. With so many games coming out in the second half of this year, it also means we get to check out the various end of beta events! Fallen Earth 's Apocalypse Parties were lower-key, involving groups like the above pictured mix of folks getting their groove on. The actual end, however, involved getting everyone...

And you'll never guess what happens in it. Author "Boubouille" of MMO-Champion claims to have assembled detailed information on World of Warcraft 's next expansion, which reportedly tears the landscape of Azeroth asunder in some sort of ... huge ... disaster ... event ... thing . There's probably a word for that -- might be smart to trademark it . As pointed out by our sister site WoW.com...

Sony Online Entertainment closed down The Matrix Online last weekend, ending its four year reign. It was not an easy four years. It was based off three movies, only one of which was really good. It did not get great reviews. It went through a mid-life revamp that, like all such efforts, alienated some of it loyal [...]

by: Charles Husemann NEWS - MMO deaths are fairly interesting things as only the hardcore members of the community are left to watch the switch get flipped from 1 to 0. The shutdowns also give the devs of the game a chance to reward the hard core members and give them a chance to say good-bye to their community for all the time they've invested in their product. The latest MMO to head to the great...

Friday was the last day for SOE's The Matrix Online . We've been following the collapse of this older MMO for a few months now and, thankfully, our brothers and sisters in the resistance over at Massively were there to experience and document the end. There was some merrymaking , lightning and even a bit of ... eyes dripping blood ? Check out Massively's gallery below for all of the endgame ceremonies....

Yes, The Matrix Online sucked . Its gameplay was an abhorrent pile of repetitive garbage that offered no real direction other than doing storyline-less missions until you hit 50, in which there was no endgame. The combat was interesting, as it offered scripted camera shots for insane kung-fu flips and hits, but it wasn't enough to "save" the game. I hear you. But if you think the above paragraph...

It's odd when online games come back into the news because they shut down. There is something strangely touching about a world—even an unpopular one—where all the stories, all the gaming, and all the hours people put into it disappear when the publisher finally pulls the plug on the servers. The Matrix Online has been shut down, but at least players had one last party before things all...

The Matrix Online never really caught on, did it? Didn't help the second and third movies poisoned people's interest in the franchise. And that it wasn't World of Warcraft. Regardless, until last...

Like we said in our article before, " ...until everyone's RSI is smashed into a tiny, tiny ball ." Now you see that we really weren't joking about that. But we were in The Matrix Online for the final hours as well, and we managed to get some great screenshots from the end of the game. There were explosions, lightning bolts, oddly colored skies until finally.... in the last few hours... it...

Sony Online's multiplayer game The Matrix Online is now dead, as in days past. But instead of just announcing that they would pull the plug and see players fade as D-day approached, Sony decided to pursue the closure in the history of the game , change the game's graphics, so that they are decayed and crumbled. Inthe last weeks of the online community was a celebration of all the players - past and...
