It's probably time to reconsider the current medical-visit vernacular. These days, instead of "I'm going to the doctor for a checkup," it's more like: "I'm going to the nurse practitioner."

Why do some people still fall prey to scams? Isn't it obvious -- especially now, in our post-Madoff world -- when a pitchman's promises are too good to be true? As someone who hasn't yet been hit by fraud, my first thought was that it's something about the victims. A certain gullibility? But on second thought, I realize that's got to be wrong.

The 2010 Ford Taurus looks nothing like the egg that set the world on fire in the late '80s, and in my opinion is one of the best-looking cars on the road -- inside and out. In fact, I would bet that few non-auto buffs would guess it is a Ford, albeit the top-of-the- line now.
