Third Watch is the third and final book in the Acorna’s Children series. This book moves away from the spookiness of the second book and gets back to the more scientific side of dealing with the mutating illness. In this book there’s a far larger part for the ancestors friends and Grimalkin as the first half of the book mostly concerns time travel. There are a lot of fortuitous meetings...

The second book in the Acorna’s Children series was just as good as the first although I did find it very spooky in places. The story slowly starts to unfold in this book as surprising new characters and lots more of the ones met in the first book. I think I preferred the first book but this one was by no means a disappointment, I’m not sure about how they left the ending but I can’t...

I really had forgotten how much I enjoy reading Anne McCaffrey. She’s always been my favourite writer, ever since I was about 13 and one of my teachers suggested that I would enjoy reading the Dragon Riders of Pern. But although I reread her books (Especially the Catteni Sequence) quite frequently I haven’t read anything new for quite some time. Acorna’s Children is a set of 3 books...

Well as you may have guessed I’ve really got into reading in the past month. I think there’s something about the winter drawing in, it gets cold and dark and all of a sudden you just want to curl up with a good book. Even my favourite TV programs have been ignored recently in favour of a good read. I’ve also realised that it seems to flex my creative side more than sitting around...

Club Dead is book three of the True Blood series. This book finally overtakes the series one of the TV programme and so is completely new territory. To a certain extent it’s also a completely different story to the others. Without giving too much away about the story (Well that isn’t mentioned on the blurb anyway) In this book Sookie finds Bill heading off on his own and ends up having...

Since 1982, librarians Janet G. Husband and Jonathan F. Husband have been helping librarians and readers everywhere identify fiction books in series with their reference books. Now in 2009, the couple have finished the 4th edition of their Sequels: An Annotated Guide to Novels in Series , published by the American Library Association. Of course, the guide has grown much in the ensuing years. The first...

It's not often that you queue for coffee - in the student cafe at work - and meet one of your favourite authors; but that's what happened to me this morning when one of my colleagues introduced me to their friend - visiting from New Zealand - and it turned out to be Nalini Singh! We had a nice chat over drinks (mocha and hot chocolate respectively) and, agreed that Anne Bishop is a fantastic author...

Two rejections from agents while I was away sunning myself in Crete - I'll count their response time at 40 days as neither rejection was dated (or even signed). MBA Literary Agents were one of my biggest hopes - they represent some very interesting fantasy authors in addition to Anne McCaffrey, a long-time favourite writer of mine (represented by Diana Tyler). So, yes, this is a dissappointing rejection....
