I've finished the challenge. Since 42 is the perfect number for this challenge I won't add any extras to my list. I will be back when the next challenge launches in December. I had loads of fun doing the 42 Challenge. It ended up being one of my favorites. My completed list is: The Perfect Infestation by Carol Emshwiller Seafarer's Blood by Albert E. Cowdrey Dance of Shadows by Fred Chappell All in...

I'd like to put in a good word for Carol Emshwiller's wonderful short stories. Her 1974 collection, Joy in Our Cause, published by Harper & Row, was one that influenced me a great deal. I guess the stories could be...

Among the many cool things Small Beer Press does… Peapod Classics! Cheap reprints of great, weird science fiction, including Carmen Dog by Carol Emshwiller and Travel Light by Naomi Mitchison. I have these little books, and they’re just great, very nicely printed. I love the collection of quotes on Peapod’s pages: On Carmen Dog: Pure essence of [...]

They range from McSweeney's-ish fiction to science fiction to fantasy to horror and back again....
