I have been toying around with the idea of joining the GLBT reading challenge next year, but hadn't really made any sort of committment. Then, I was reading Eva's list and discovered that I owned several of those books! I read several GLBT books this year just for fun, so I don't think I will have any trouble with the challenge. A couple of the books I am reading right now could count for the challenge,...

After an incredibly busy October that included 3 birthdays (all within the same week!)- and one being a Sweet16; all I can say is that I was sooo looking forward to the respite that November would bring. And now that November is finally here, I find myself overloaded with books to read and reviews to write. That’s OK, I love it! In fact, my compulsion has led me to join in 2 more reading challenges....

Every Tuesday, I'll have an interview posted. Diana Rowland is the author of Mark of the Demon . Hi! Thanks for agreeing to do the interview. First off, what made you decide to try your hand at writing? I’ve been writing since I was old enough to write, and I’ve always loved making up stories and writing scenes and adventures. The big step for me wasn’t so much deciding to write,...

Mercedes Lackey is one of the more popular fantasy writers. Not Rowling or Tolkien popular, but pretty darned popular. Compulsively readable. Prolific. Hence, influential. Apparently, she’s decided to do a Mists of Avalon type of King Arthur story, all about Guenevere. Of course, my heart sunk. There was plenty of total crud written about Arthur before [...]

Well as you may have guessed I’ve really got into reading in the past month. I think there’s something about the winter drawing in, it gets cold and dark and all of a sudden you just want to curl up with a good book. Even my favourite TV programs have been ignored recently in favour of a good read. I’ve also realised that it seems to flex my creative side more than sitting around...

Chris sez, "Mercedes Lackey's agent, who also represents a 'persuasive little gnome' named Cory Doctorow, has been talked around to the Creative Commons point of view. Hence, Misty has announced she is going to permit fanfic as long as it is released under a Creative Commons license (presumably a noncommercial one, though she does not explicitly spell this out on the site)." Misty Lackey's...

Snow queen is the 4th book in the 500 kingdoms series by Mercedes Lackey and is a lot truer to the original book than the others have been. Instead of focusing on a love story this one focuses on a mystery. In some ways this book was much better than One Good Knight and Fortunes Fool. It had more of a plot and was more complicated however on the other hand it didn’t have any of the heart warming...

It's not often that you queue for coffee - in the student cafe at work - and meet one of your favourite authors; but that's what happened to me this morning when one of my colleagues introduced me to their friend - visiting from New Zealand - and it turned out to be Nalini Singh! We had a nice chat over drinks (mocha and hot chocolate respectively) and, agreed that Anne Bishop is a fantastic author...

This book is the 3rd in Mercedes Lackey’s 500 Kingdoms set. The first one Fairy Godmother was absolutely brilliant! Very original and funny, unfortunately I feel as if the set has gone down hill a little since then. The book is set in an alternate reality where fairy tails are real and governed by something called The Tradition. The Tradition tries to force people and situations into a traditional...
