The Science of Michael Crichton: An Unauthorized Exploration into the Real Science behind the Fictional Worlds of Michael Crichton (Science of Pop Culture series)
Hoist the Jolly Roger above the bestseller list, ye mateys, 'cause Michael Crichton has just published a swashbuckling pirate thriller. The popular author of "Jurassic Park" and "The Andromeda Strain" went to Davy Jones's locker last November, but his assistant found a finished draft of "Pirate Latitudes" on his computer, and Harper has plundered this booty like a chest...
Pirate Latitudes reminds you more of Eaters of the Dead or Timeline (minus the time travel aspect) than Michael Crichton’s more famous books like Jurassic Park, Prey . Like many historical novels starring pirates, it is a bit cheesy in pieces. Port Royal, the lonesome British colony in the Caribbean seas, is surrounded by the Spanish waters. The undeclared (and unacknowledged) war on the Spanish...
This week brings the release of Michael Crichton’s posthumously published tale of the high seas, Pirate Latitudes and A Good Fall, a new collection of stories by Ha Jin. Also out recently is Melville House’s Roberto Bolaño: The Last Interview.
State of Fear It occurred to me that with the facts behind Climategate now coming to light - if Michael Crichton's book State of Fear was made into a movie - it could now pass the Hollywood smell test of "based upon a true story." It is too bad that Crichton died before seeing that in many ways he was right about the sloppiness of the global warming "science".

The reviews are starting to come in for Michael Crichton’s PIRATE LATITUDES, a surprise discovered after the author’s death on his hard drive (the 21st century equivalent of the bottom drawer, perhaps'): The NY TIMES didn’t think much of it, noting that its weaknesses may be due to the manuscript not being polished up before his [...]
Without question, PIRATE LATITUDES is one of the year’s most bittersweet reads, simply for being the final novel by superstar novelist Michael Crichton, who died last fall at the too-young age of 66. Speaking of young, this is the kind of pure adventure story he wrote early in his career, like THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY [...]
The Tomorrow Code by Brian Falkner When New Zealand teens Tane and Rebecca start receiving coded messages from the future, they realize that the world is in trouble. As they begin to decipher the code, they discover that the messages come from their future selves - and contain a worrisome SOS. Tane and Rebecca, along with Tane's brother Fatboy, frantically work to decode the messages and follow the...
Michael’s Crichton’s latest novel, Pirate Latitudes, is being released this week. Presumably it’s his last novel — since he died a year ago — and will bring his heirs royalties from at least one more Spielberg movie. As Amazon helpfully explains: Michael Crichton's novels include Next, State of Fear, Prey, Timeline, Jurassic Park, and The Andromeda Strain . He is also...
Sue Arnold on Stephenie Meyer, Michael Crichton, Michael Morpurgo, Neil Gaiman and others Breaking Dawn , by Stephenie Meyer, read by Ilyana Kadushin and Matt Walters (21hrs unabridged, Hachette, £24.99) Having been rudely advised by several Disgusted Tunbridge Wellians that my choice of children's books last week was totally out of touch with today's young readers, I have based this week's...

Over this weekend the festival is running at three separate venues across London. Classic films you...
