I took this photo at Chicago's Randolph Street Station one hot summer morning, way back in August of 1979. I was only 17 years old back then, and was about to ride the South Shore from Chicago to Michigan City Indiana. Although I had taken a small handful of train photos prior to this one at the Illinois Railway Museum, I consider this rare gem to be My actual "First" railfan photo. Thjis...

I took this photo during a July 2009 family visit to the Illinois Railway Museum, located in the rural town of Union Illinois. Although modern equipment by other peoples standards, this retired 2006 vintage M.A.N articulated electric trolleybus from the city of Seatle Washington, is now a proud operating exhibit at the Illinois Railway Museum. Notice the soft brown leather seats inside this modern...

I took this photo inside the bus barn at the Illinois Railway Museum. General Motors Corporation had introduced the stylish and quiete spartan RTS model transit bus during the late 1970's. This model of transit bus had replaced the old fishbowl windshield TDH series transit buses that were introduced in 1959. The GMC fishbowl windshield buses, worked on may different transit companys in the United...

I took this 35mm black and white photo on a June 1993 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum. Looking like a scene out of Chicago area transit history past, this 1920's era car is viewed on display by the museum's preserved CTA rapid transit station from 50th Avenue in west suburban Cicero Illinois. Yjis almost looks like a scene out of the 1950's.

I was only 14 years old and using My parent's Kodak 110 Pocket camera when I took this photo back in early November of 1976. I would not own My first 35mm camera until almost 7 years later from the time of this photo. My Family and I, visited the Illinois Railway Museum on a sunny but chilly day in early November of 1976. The regular museum operating season was practically over, but they were operating...

I took this photo during a railfan photo stop aboard a 1986 CTA fantrip. The excursion was advertised as "The Snowflake Special", and was sponsored by the Illinois Railway Museum located in Union Illinois. The trip utilized eight 1950's era CTA 6000 series lightweight rapid transit cars that were built by the St. Louis Car Company. Before the Chicago Transit Authority began their current...

Although I was born too late to experience electric streetcar transit operations firsthand in the city of Chicago Illinois when I was growing up, one can still ride aboard one of a few preserved and operating examples from Chicago's transit days past at the Illinois Railway Museum. Car # 144 shown here, was built by the Pulman Standard Car Company of Chicago in 1908. It operated in daily service on...

I took this photo at the Illinois Railway Museum, during their September 1982 Member's Day Weekend. This is an interior view of a Chicago Transit Authority former Chicago Rapid Transit Company 1920's era 4000 series rapid transit car. With it's classic vintage glass lamp shades and reversible seats, these cars remained in Chicago Transit Authority service in to the early 1970's. Many found new homes...

I took this photo during an August 2000 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum, located in the town of Union Illinois. It was a special occasion weekend at the IRM, as they were celebrating their vintage transportation extravaganza. I took this photo at the northeast curve on the museum's demonstration trolley loop. The classic 1950's era vintage automobile in the foreground, Chicago Surface Lines electric...

Both the 1985 and 1986 fantrips utilized 8 car trains of 1950's era 6000 series rapid transit cars built by the St. Louis Car Company, from salvaged electrical components acquired from scrapped CTA PCC...

I took this photo inside one of the many display barns, at the Illinois Railway Museum. A fair amount of equipment from the defunct Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad, has found it's way to the Illinois Railway Museum for preservation. Seen here is the North Shore Lines corporate logo, on the side of one of their modernized "Silverliner" electric interurban multiple unit cars....
