The Super Bowl champion 1969 Chiefs are being honored today at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield. The entire 1969 squad is being inducted in the hall's Honor Roll of World Champions along with the NBA's 1957-58 St. Louis Hawks. Tuesday's MLB news briefs: Eighty years after his career and nearly 40 years after his death, Carl Mays has finally earned recognition for something other than the only fatal pitch in major league history. The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame said Tuesday that Mays has been selected for induction. A ceremony will be held Oct. 22 in Springfield.

Steve Busby, the only pitcher in Royals history to throw two no hitters, has been selected to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Busby, whose career was cut short because of a shoulder injury, will be joined in the Hall by former St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Ken Reitz and former pitcher Carl Mays, who on Aug. 16, 1920, thew a pitch that killed Cleveland shortstop Ray Chapman.
