Thank you SO MUCH for having our Tater for 4 days while we were in Boston. He so loved the Shedd Aquarium, visiting with you all, and being with Will too. This was the first time we were away and I knew KNEW that I didn't have to worry and we were able to mingle, IRL with a few, and take care of business at the convention. Having family that can step in and is so wonderful! Now for Seger, I know taking...

Every Thursday, local jazz bands play on Shedd’s north terrace and inside at the Caribbean Reef , providing a musical backdrop for the museum’s fishy splendors*. Drinks and snacks are also available for purchase. Current Jazzin’ schedule...

Ah, Chicago. How I loved it! Well, they've never been on Harry Dresden's trail is all I can tell you ...) . This fellow was showboating for the crowd like the otters do ... he didn't mind his "captivity" a bit...

So much for trimming the pork. The practice of decorating legislation with billions of dollars in pet projects and federal contracts is still thriving on Capitol Hill - despite public outrage that helped flip control of Congress two years ago.

You know how you go into Starbucks in the morning, pre-caffeinated and still groggy enough to believe $5 for coffee is reasonable without ever feeling the overwhelming urge to rape and sodomize every breathing being between the barista and your Prius? My darling friend Annie has been on a trip to Chicago. Amongst other things, she's been to a fantastic sounding art exhibitions and to the Shedd Aquarium - where she saw sea otters and baby Beluga whales . I am GREEN with envy. However, she's sent me LOTS of post-cards. Good thing we've got a double mantle piece!

Blogging briefly from Chicago. Today's talk at the Field Museum went well--I managed to lure a fair number of people inside from a beautiful spring afternoon to hear me talk about a gut germ . I also had a chance to walk through the fabulous Shedd Aquarium. The Field Museum has an acquarium of its own--filled with 520 million year old creatures. They set up three gigantic screens on which they have...
