I don’t think it’s any exaggeration at all to say that Dave McKean is a legendary figure in certain circles, his illustration work on Sandman alone would be enough to guarantee that. The man is one of the most distinctive visual artists in the world whether his work is presented on the page or, increasingly, the screen. And so when the news broke a good while back that McKean was preparing a DVD release...

Our edition of Neil Gaiman’s new novel, The Graveyard Book, is working its way toward publication. We’ve finished the design and proofreading of the book, and are busy finalizing our choices for the cloth on the limited edition and slipcase, while Neil and Dave fit the signature pages into their ultra-busy schedules. As soon as [...]

A few short notes from your humble webgoblin. Dave McKean was at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the world's biggest literary fest, this past week. Forbidden Planet has posted an excellent report which, in its thoroughness, makes one feel that one was there. Speaking of Mr. McK, Keanoshow, his collection of seventeen short works , is now available on DVD from Amazon. Amanda Palmer has misplaced...

Our latest Ray Bradbury titles have been spectacular sellers. The Dave McKean illustrated chapbook, Skeletons, is now out of print, while we’re down to our last 40 copies (out of 1500) of Moby Dick: a Screenplay, less than a month after the book was released. We don’t expect to have copies of Moby once we [...]

Science fiction illustrator Dave McKean's new DVD, Keanoshow, is everything you'd want from a DVD of short films made by the best and weirdest illustrator working in the field today. McKean may just be my favorite genre artist (certainly the cover he did for my novel Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town is my all-time favorite in a field full of strong contenders), and the short films here really...

Dave McKean, for too many years now a man without a website, wants me to tell you that things are finally stirring at the unusually-named http://davemckean.com/ (and that Allen Spiegel will be selling original art from The Graveyard Book at Comic-Con.) Ah, the city with the most observant Jews (New York) gets you on Rosh Hashana. Alas. Maybe next time. These events you just listed, including the Sep...

Dave McKean writes to let me know that, Here's a poster for my show at The Merry Karnowsky Gallery . The opening is on the evening of the 19th, it's open to public, anyone can come, I'll be there. The Gallery is in LA. If you click on the picture you can see it large enough to get the address and time details from it. (You could do it from the gallery link too, but it's less pretty.) ... ARKHAM ASYLUM, DC Comics, 1989 Animal Man? Obscure. Doom Patrol? Fringe. Where Morrison actually made a name for himself was on the Batman graphic novel Arkham Asylum. And the same can be said of Dave McKean, the multi-media comics artist now better known for his Sandman covers. For a poor comics fan from boonie-town in the middle of a Tim Burton-fueled Batmania, THIS was what put both men on the radar....

I swear, it was just by chance that these two wallpapers came up at the same time, but it's a happy-chance. Both are from Cory Doctorow books. The Dave McKean is the cover to Someone Comes to Town and Pablo Defendini 's is the artwork from a silkscreen inspired by Little Brother . After you grab the wallpaper on Tor.com , check out the awesome book binding job that Abi Sutherland did from Pablo's missprints....
