Seal made a big revelation at last week's Lupus L.A. Orange Ball in Beverly Hills. This is the same event where Paula Abdul joked about her drunk ass antics on last week's Idol . Besides performing, Seal revealed that he has lupus himself. "You've all shown your generosity and your support, and as a 20-or-so-odd-year sufferer myself, I feel really fortunate to be in the position to contribute,"...

SubPress favorite John Scalzi has posted a shareware chapbook to his website, “How I Proposed to My Wife: An Alien Sex Story,” which was originally published as a chapbook to accompany the hardcover of issue four of Subterranean magazine. Best of all, half of what John takes in is going to Lupus research, a disease [...]

Ketan Desai submits: For a long time, few drugs were developed for rheumatological diseases. It was considered unattractive from a commercial viewpoint since relatively few patients (compared to cardiovascular diseases, for example) suffered from them. It was also thought that this market had little pricing power. This changed dramatically with biologics such as Etanercept (co-marketed by Amgen (AMGN)...

I abandon the little one, his homework and his meltdown. I’m there in a nano second in response to the universal wail of “it was an accident!” Her face is shiny with tears and snot as she clutches her foot to her chest and blows on it. There is no sign of other more alarming bodily fluids. She is of course incomprehensible. I stroke her hair and wait for calm. “I think I’ve got a tooth in my toe!”...

Did you know that May is Lupus Awareness Month? I didn't either, as lupus is a disease that I know next to nothing about. I was friends in high school with a girl who had lupus but she really never mentioned her condition. I recently became aware of FirstGiving.com an online arena where you can raise money online for lupus or any other registered non-profit organization....

Lupus is one of those illnesses that not too many people know much about. I have a cousin who has Lupus and because of that I learned something about the disease. May is Lupus awareness month, so I thought I'd read a little about what is going on as far as Lupus research, etc. I found that there is an online community that is working to raise money online for lupus research...

Sickness won't get in Jillian Bante's way. The 17-year-old Rochester senior has been sick so long, she sort of thought of it as normal. That was until 2005, when her lupus left her legally blind in both eyes. "Before that huge flare-up, I didn't think of my disease as that big a deal," she said.

Out of all the girls on The Hills , Whitney Port is my favorite. Not only is she drama free, unlike LC and Heidi, she's also super fashionable. I'm not one to sugarcoat things, so I'll be honest; I'm not loving this outfit she wore at Lupus LA Orange Ball. She usually nails it but something went wrong here. Maybe she's been secretly hanging out with Heidi — gasp! She resembles a genie that...
