A HOSPITAL had an outbreak of Clostridium difficile 10 days after a "deep clean". The Countess of Chester Hospital closed a surgical ward last Thursday when 26 people fell ill with the stomach bug. The hospital had spent pounds 300,000 on the deep clean, which ended on March 24.

THE number of patients affected by an outbreak of the Clostridium difficile bug at the Countess of Chester Hospital has now dropped from 26 to 17. A ward was closed to visitors and some patients isolated in individual rooms to contain the spread of the potentially deadly superbug.
