Ealing Hospital has acted quickly to respond to the comments and recommendations made by Healthcare Commission inspectors. The hospital received an unannounced visit from the inspectors in August as part of the annual programme of inspections to assess NHS Trusts' arrangements for the control and prevention of infections against the hygiene code.

A nurse may get sacked for playing Undercover Angel at Ealing Hospital. Back in 2004, Nomalizewe Ndebele wore a camera around Ealing Hospital, where she works as a healthcare assistant. She secretly filmed the less than stellar standards of patient care for a Channel 4 programme, which aired January 2005. Going to hospital is rarely fun -- the docs are never as cute as on Grey's Anatomy , they poke and prod you in uncomfortable ways, and the visit always takes longer than planned. And while some hospitals try their best to make you as comfortable as possible, others leave patients trying to detach their IVs and hobble towards the exits. Falling into the latter category, apparently, is Ealing Hospital....

Patients and visitors at Ealing Hospital, West London, spoke yesterday of the hospital's “dirty, ghastly” reputation, which contributed to it achieving the worst score for overall care in the hospital league tables.
