PATIENTS and staff were evacuated from Great Ormond Street hospital after an explosion and fire. The fire, which started at 8.30am in the cardiac wing of the London children's hospital, ignited a gas cylinder which then exploded.

At 8.30am yesterday morning there was a fire on the 5th floor of Great Ormond Street Hospital's cardiac wing (respiratory ward). The hospital's major incident plan was activated immediately and the fire brigade was called. Twenty three patients were safely evacuated to others parts of the hospital. There have been no reported injuries to any patients, family or staff.

This morning, Great Ormond Street Hospital in London had a fire . Fortunately, all the kids got out fine, and there were no serious injuries. I work near GOSH, and wandered in that direction on my lunch break. The fire was well out by 2pm, with just 3 appliances and a couple of London Fire Brigade vans giving any indication that it wasn't business as usual. Coming up Great Ormond Street I saw a fire...
