ITP Show: Autonomous Parapoetic Device

I got a chance to talk with Adam Parrish at the ITP show about his project called the "Autonomous Parapoetic Device". I have to thank him for tearing it completely apart so I could see the "guts" of the piece. Here is how Adam describes his work: The Autonomous Parapoetic Device is a self-contained and portable machine that generates poetry. Constantly creating new sequences of words, lines, and stanzas,...

Finger controlled "Missile Command"

Smason writes - I wrote a Missile Command clone for the multi-touch wall at Obscura Digital . Just like the original, except you can fire by touching the wall with your fingers. Save the Golden Gate Bridge from ICBMs. Fun for the whole family! Check it out on Patrick’s official Obscura Digital blog entry . I smell a DARPA grant! Vegetable Garden

It's been three weeks since I first got out in the vegetable garden. Since then, it's been very cool and damp, so the greens and peas are not very big, yet. One thing I've done, though, is to put up rabbit fencing, as seen below. I am not thrilled about how this looks or how it works, but after having rabbits decimate the garden over the past two years, I knew I needed to take some serious action....

A Place to Sit for a Spell

I photographed this part of my sister's garden on Sunday when we celebrated Mother's Day. It is one of my favorite parts of her garden. Neglected Tomato

This volunteer tomato bush that sprouted on its own in pure builder's sand received no fertilizer and only rainwater so far has produced 51 smaller than normal roma (?) tomatoes. It is definitely a hardy variety (unknown) that didn't need any t.l.c. My pampered bushes that I planted can't even compare to this. I'm definitely keeping seeds for this variety that I named "Brawny Roma." reBlogged to tomatoes...
