Apparently, funky is going mainstream in the auto industry. What began as a unique phenomena over at a little startup division of Toyota has now spread across other Asian automaker model lines. Nissan challenged the squared Scion with a Cube and now Kia has put their heart and “Soul” into the mix. Comments to last Tuesday’s Curbside Classic pointed out the lasting stylistic influence of the BMW 6 Series on such cars as the Acura Legend coupe. That reminded me of this out-of-focus shot I took of a 1990 Infinity M30 last winter. I try to stick to cars 25 years and older anyway, but this is [...]

Cutting through marketing hype, the Acura RDX is one of relatively few crossover vehicles that actually do feel like agile sport sedans--especially if you'd like to keep the price well under $40k. That is, provided you're one of those people who won't consider wagons like the BMW 328i Sport Wagon, Cadillac CTS Wagon, or upcoming Acura TSX ..

Honda is yet another automaker that has decided to jump on the wagon "band wagon". The Japanese automaker announced today its plan to introduce the Euro-spec Honda Accord Tourer to North American as the Acura TSX Sports Wagon. It is expected to arrive next fall. I guess Acura didn't want the sexy Cadillac CTS Sports Wagon to get all the attention. Make the jump for the official word... "...

Not surprising, then, that design input for the 2010 Buick LaCrosse should have been heavily influenced by Asian tastes, and that the overall result looks generically Asiatic: a touch of Hyundai Genesis from the front, Lexus ES350 at the back, Acura TL alongside. Not bad at all, really quite sleek and attractive. Just generic. But when you check into a Marriott hotel suite, say, that's what you want:...

Plans for a new Acura NSX sports car have been shelved. Built all through the 1990s, the low-slung, mid-engined, quasi-exotic sports car had been expected to have a front-engined GT version with extreme styling in its next iteration. John Watts, Acura’s senior manager of product development, said that the prospect of another Acura sports car could still be realized.
