Have you ever given a thought as to how limousines are made? Though, the general impression is that the coachbuilder cuts the car into two halves; and adds some more components to transform the original car into a "stretch" limousine. But this isn't as simple as it sounds. There are many factors apart from the safety rules and regulations that need to be implemented during the conversion....

2011 Chevrolet Cruze When this blog debuted in 2006, brands like Hummer, Isuzu, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn were still relevant in the automotive (all are now kaput). It was the year we saw the last gasp of the Acura NSX (sigh), Cadillac DeVille (actually just renamed DTS, but still it was the end of a long-standing nameplate), and Pontiac Aztek (try not to snicker). Ensuing years brought the final flight...

If you drove to work today in a 1987 Nissan Maxima with 340,000 miles on the odometer, cardboard over the broken windows, " can't get clean" seats, and a busted radio that only picks up the Christian station (you know who you are), then you might want to stop reading this. A source tells News.com.au that Tommy Girl bought 3-year-old Suri a $30,000 custom-made miniature replica of an Indy...

The Washington Post reports that 38-year-old Northwest resident Angel Marie Bridges was struck and killed by a driver while crossing 16th Street at Park Road NW early yesterday. This is not an untrafficked road, even at 1:20 a.m., the time that police say the hit-and-run took place. Police later found the vehicle, a 1994 Cadillac DeVille, roughly 4 hours later at 16th Street and L Street NW -- another...

Out hunting for parts for his '77 Daihatsu F20 , reader Rashid stumbled across some very interesting automobiles in his local scrapyard in Doha, Qatar. Pretty much the last place on Earth you'd expect to find a lifted Cadillac. Gallery below. Dear Jalopnik, I went to the local scrap yard the other day to look for parts to restore my 1977 Daihatsu F20, and I found these amazing autos just lying there...

I received this in an email today from an old friend, Bill S., whose son Adam just recently returned from his (second? Third') tour of duty in Iraq. I can claim nothing about the content. It looks like fiction. At best, it's apocryphal; unsubstantiated and the author is unknown. But it reads good, and I admit I admire the emotional content. So I include the entire text of the email, including the few...

Today, the Post reports that Espada has "turned his Bronx nonprofit health center into his own 'cash for clunkers' program when it bought an old, gas-guzzling junker from his eldest son." The charity that runs the Soundview Health Clinics "picked up a 2001 Ford Expedition" with over 175K miles...

Nope, not talking about Teddy Kennedy this time, but cars that were sacrificed to the government gods through the Cash for Clunkers program (from John Stossel ): I enjoyed this from Brad Smith at Division of Labour : Thanks to the glories of YouTube, we can watch as the government mandates the destruction of perfectly good automobiles to "help the economy." Here is a very nice 1990s Dodge...
