Police are investigating a shooting that occurred as the victim said he tried to flee an attempted robbery. Officers were called Tuesday to the intersection of Dwight and West Huron to assist a 29-year-old Waterford man in a Dodge Durango who had been shot and was bleeding from the chest. He was taken to the hospital.

The best thing to happen to the Chrysler Aspen sport utility vehicle was a hybrid driveline. This big SUV, built from the Dodge Durango, is nicely Chryslerized for luxury, but as a mainstream SUV it was just too much too late when the model debuted in 2007. The SUV trend was cooling, gas prices were rising and consumers' hands were wringing.

Chrysler has begun building their hybrid SUVs, but in a plant that's going to close next year. Despite putting all that money into developing the two-mode hybrid system with BMW and GM, Chrysler must not have a lot of hope for their Dodge Durango Hybrid and Chrysler Aspen Hybrid SUVs. Perhaps they've been looking over at the sales of GM's hybrid SUVs, which haven't exactly taken off, yet. But still,...
