Toyota's third-generation model put 26,918 units on the board, while the Insight was down in ninth place with 7,074 units. The Insight , the first hybrid to top Japan's sales charts this April, is also...

I’m now nearing the end of a week’s worth of commuting, errands-running, and generally living with Honda’s new 2010 Insight hybrid (our Clear Sky Blue metallic long-term test car). And frankly I’m shocked—and not by the car’s electric motor. This is the most disappointing Honda product I’ve ever driven. Mind you, I use the word “shocked” [...]

But can it win Car of the Year ? Later today MotorTrend will announce its 2010 Car of the Year Award, but I wouldn't put my bet on any hybrid cars winning the award. However, the 2010 Toyota Prius has a chance. MT judges have released some of their notes on the cars reviewed and both the Honda Insight and the Lexus HS 250 h were reviewed rather harshly. The 2010 Toyota Prius, on the other hand, impressed...

In need of a few refinements? The Honda Insight is one of 23 vehicles up for MotorTrend’s 2010 Car of the Year, but this probably won’t be the Year of the Insight. Below are a few notes from the MotorTrend staff. “The Insight falls shockingly short on engine refinement, structural composure, and general driving satisfaction,” says St. [...]

Hybrid car sales were up, way up, for the month of October. Sales topped out at 24,275 units, 14.1% higher than last October. Cumulative sales are still down, however at 16.7% below last year at this point. The biggest sellers were the Toyota Prius, newly redesigned and still on back order in most places. It's nothing compared to the demand in Japan where government backed incentives are pushing Prius...
