SOUTH BEND » A retired Army general will take over as president and chief operating officer of AM General, the South Bend-based company that produces the Humvee for the military and its civilian version, the Hummer H2. The company said Wednesday that Paul Kern will replace James Armour as president effective Aug. 1.

The Standard Taxi by VPG Auto has been working the publicity circuit for a while now, but it appears AM General may step up to actually produce it.
