According to the Fiat Group's product plan, we're supposed to see the new Lancia Ypsilon making its world debut sometime this year but we wouldn't be at all surprised if the Italians have pushed the launch date of the premium supermini back to 2010. It was recently made public by Sergio Marchionne, the Chief Executive Officer of Fiat that they are going to cease production in one of their Italian facilities. The production of the Lancia Ypsilon models will continue at the Termini Imerese plant, which is located in Sicily, until 2011, after which the facility will switch to manufacturing something that will not be connected to cars.

Fiat revealed the fact that the Italian government will provide financial support in order to produce the successor of Lancia Ypsilon. The new vehicle will be revealed this year, but the manufacturer plans to introduce it on the market next year, in 2010. According to our sources Fiat will receive 46 million Euros to produce this car so we expect an interesting vehicle from the Italian manufacturer!
