In a runaway Toyota , SHUT. THE. FUCKING. CAR. OFF ! ... The 2009 Lexus ES 350 shot through suburban San Diego like a runaway missile, weaving at 120 miles an hour through rush hour freeway traffic as flames flashed from under the car. At the wheel, veteran California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Saylor desperately tried to control the 272-horsepower engine that was roaring at full throttle as his wife,...

Between the tragedy of a California Highway Patrol officer and his family losing their lives in a borrowed dealership Lexus ES 350 and the farcical zip tie solution issued shortly thereafter, the Toyota/Lexus floor mat recall is a unique event in recent automotive safety history. Except it's not unique--it's happened before, in 2007--and ...

Preliminary federal investigation into a highly publicized unintended-acceleration crash involving a Lexus ES 350 crash this past August is pointing toward incorrect floor mats as a significant factor. The cause of the crash is described as “very excessive speed” linked to the accelerator being fully depressed. (Read "More than floor mats: NHTSA report gives more details on Lexus crash.")...

The 2010 LaCrosse is Super-Buick, but will buyers see past Clark Kent's glasses? Buick created the sleek, contemporary sedan to restore its status as a premium marque, attract younger buyers and compete with entry-luxury sedans like the Acura TL and Lexus ES 350.

Not surprising, then, that design input for the 2010 Buick LaCrosse should have been heavily influenced by Asian tastes, and that the overall result looks generically Asiatic: a touch of Hyundai Genesis from the front, Lexus ES350 at the back, Acura TL alongside. Not bad at all, really quite sleek and attractive. Just generic. But when you check into a Marriott hotel suite, say, that's what you want:...

Reports of sudden acceleration are unlikely to stem from a vehicle defect, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says. Toyota has blamed out-of-place floor mats for most such incidents. Federal safety regulators have closed an inquiry into sudden-acceleration incidents involving certain Lexus ES models after concluding that a vehicle defect was unlikely.

The Lexus ES350 would most likely not be on the priority list of younger buyers. With a median buyer age of 56 years old, it just cannot be denied that the car’s reputation of longevity attracts the older crowd. It’s not that Lexus hasn’t tried to get the younger generation.
