I have often said that a great car reviewer is one that can place themselves in the shoes of a potential buyer of any vehicle they may be handed. This week, I truly feel like a duck out of water. The 2008 Lexus LS460 is a magnificent ride, one suitable for shuttling executives and their [...]

Owners of the Mercedes S-Class now have yet another to reason to bask in the superiority of their premium luxury sedan. That's because the model took the highest honor in the latest J.D. Power APEAL study, earning the position of top-performing model by beating out both the Lexus LS and Porsche 911. The award is just the latest bestowed upon Mercedes-Benz by J.D. Power. As you may remember, earlier...

2008 Lexus LS600hL The Lexus LS has gotten a bunch of flack from us journalists, mostly because it's so distant and removed that its driver's relationship with the road is no closer than its passengers'. As much as I love drivers' cars (and, oh do I ever), Lexus never pretended that the LS was to appeal to enthusiasts. The LS is supposed to appeal to their antitheses - people who don't want to be...

Citizen SF snapped up this bit of automotive gold. And holy smokes! You'll never guess who was driving this, "The first Lexus LS 460h L hybrid luxury sedan to arrive in San Francisco." We'll give you a hint: she looks like Jennifer Siebel only less smarmy yet a bit more shiny. And she's irresistibly whimsical. And practically perfect in every way. Can you guess?

Hyundai has released pricing for it’s Lexus LS 460 competitor (some might say knock-off–but then the same could be said of the first LS), and I rushed the figures into TrueDelta’s pricing database. I believe this makes TrueDelta the first site where you can configure–much less compare–pricing for the Genesis. A few results: Compared to a similarly [...]

I disagree with every review of the Lexus LS600hL ever written. Categorically. To a man, my colleagues misinterpret the most expensive Lexus as a misguided planet-saver that doesn't deliver enough mpg to justify its sky-high price tag. I view the ultimate hybrid as better driving through science. In fact, despite the dorky "hybrid" badges uglifying the LS600hL's flanks, Lexus didn't build this beast...

The fastest way to kill an automotive brand: sell a POS. The bloodletting caused by a brand new clunker can be spectacular. Anyone remember the 1981 Cadillac Fleetwood V-8-6-4? How about the Cimarron? It has taken Caddy more than 20 years to climb back from that double debacle if, indeed, they have. But there’s another, slower and more insidious way to ruin a storied car brand: distraction. When a...
